One of my favorite things to do when we're not busy shooting events is running errands, yes, running errands. Why? Probably because it gets me out of the office and allows me opportunity to connect with the outside world. Yet at the same time I know that it's more than that. Somehow in the midst of running these errands I seem to daydream about Saturday afternoons with my dad... we'd take the car to get washed, run to the hardware store, and even pick up groceries for my mom. I absolutely loved those simple yet mundane errands on the weekend. So you might ask, "what's that have to do with a rainy day video???" Well, you have to understand that almost every aspect of my life can be tied to a song or band. When it rained during college, I remember time and again John Mayer being on in the background. When I would go to the barbershop just blocks away I remember the Bangles, "Walk Like an Egyptian" and Rod Stewart's, "Forever Young" on the overhead speakers. Even on an icy cold winter morning driving to school with my sister, we'd routinely hear the Foo Fighters "Hero" (incredibly great song btw) and sing along. So, this is why I play the "Rainy Day Video" here on the blog... every time it rains I recall a myriad of songs and artists and associate them with times in my life (for one reason or another) and I think you'd enjoy hearing them as well. Basically there's no outright reason to feature a video whenever it rains, but I get a kick out of reliving some of these moments.
As it's drizzling here, I leave you with a music video from Michael Buble... the guy is crazy talented and I wish I could sing like him (actually, what I'd be thrilled with is just photographing an event where he's the main act). My wife and I have made many dinners together with this guy on in the background (and for some reason it's usually raining... go figure). I think he's a great artist to listen to on days like today...
