Eric Greenley :: Personal Trainer

Tuesday, September 30, 2008  |  PORTRAITS

Several months ago I was introduced to Eric through a good friend of mine. As it turns out, Eric is now my personal trainer (an incredible one at that!) and is working me into shape - shape that I haven't experienced since high-school/college days. Honestly, I've never been this physically strong in years and the fat... well, that's coming off as well!

Why post about my personal trainer you ask? (Good question!)

The reason being, when I began feeling more physically in shape and started seeing results, I can't help but promote Eric... he's such a great trainer. It's similar to when you experience something so great that you just HAVE to share it with your best friends... well, consider yourself a friend 'cause I want you guys to have the same experience. Actually, I want you guys to see what I mean so badly that I asked Eric if he wouldn't mind running a bit of a special for anyone that wants to give it a try... he said he'd gladly work with anyone that's interested!!

If you're local to the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area feel free to give Eric a call as he can train you at your place if you're not able to make it to the gym in Cary. Here's his number... (919) 413-8016

Still hesitant or have some questions? Look at it this way, we all need to work out whether we want to or not. If I'm honest with you, I was actually a bit hesitant to commit to a few sessions as I thought that I knew how to train (after all, I had played college ball) but Eric showed me how to train more effectively. As a result of his guidance and instruction I get way more out of my workouts and see progress where I hadn't before. I'm telling you, just give him a shot... you'll thank me later.

I asked Eric if he would mind me taking a few shots of him and some of his actual clients so that you guys could get a better idea of who this guy is... here are a few shots from the training session.

Adam and Sarah :: Preggers!!!

Monday, September 29, 2008  |  PORTRAITS

A few months ago Courtney and I went out for a date at a local restaurant and coincidently bumped into Adam and Sarah. We weren't sure if it was them at first as we hadn't seen them since college, but after a few glances back and forth we determined that it was in fact them! Not only did we spend a few minutes catching up on all that had taken place since college, but we also discussed the details of their newest addition to the family... a baby boy. Well, he's not here just yet, but soon enough! We figured that we'd shoot a "preggers" session before the little man arrived and I'm so glad we did... it was so much fun. Here are a few photos from their session...

We stopped for a bit of Cold Stone Ice Cream... it's good for the baby.... and fathers of babies... and photographers who have nothing to do with the pregnancy.

"The Dangerous Book for Boys"... what an awesome book!!! Adam was showing me how this book instructs fathers and sons on how to make everything from an arrowhead to a catapult.... wish I'd had one of these books growing up!

Congrats on the little one guys!!! We're so excited for you and can't wait 'till he arrives!!!!

It's been a good week...

Friday, September 26, 2008  |  PERSONAL

I understand that it's been a while since I last posted... busy times around here I guess! We've had a shoot just about every day this week so you can be sure that there's quite a bit to come here on the blog (and the crowd goes wild... or maybe just that's how it plays out in my head).

While I try to keep my portrait sessions to a minimum, it seems that there's a bit of demand at the present time (no complaints here). We photographed a two day session for a personal trainer and his ever expanding business, another session for a financial advisor (and the golf tournament that they sponsored), and we even managed a "pregger" session in the end. Whew, I'm exhausted but so pumped at the same time to show y'all (that's right, y'all) what came of the sessions.

Oh, and mid-week my bike completely busted on me... I mean the entire derailleur snapped off (which helps me change gears mid-ride). Thankfully the guys over at Performance Bikes took great care of everything. If you're looking for a bike I'd highly recommend them. So yeah, I got my bike back, shot a handful of sessions, met with clients, potential clients and friends in the business... it's been a good week.

How was your week? Anyone have any crazy plans for the weekend??

Laura and Maurice :: Wedding :: South Boston, VA

Friday, September 19, 2008  |  WEDDINGS

Laura and Maurice's wedding was absolutely incredible!! Everything went according to plan and the timing was perfect. That's saying quite a bit, especially considering that tropical storm Hanna was headed directly for the location of the wedding! Actually several hours before the ceremony was to begin, tropical storm Hanna miraculously subsided and it was one of the most gorgeous days I've experienced for some time. It was as if Laura and Maurice had planned it!

The day began with the men heading out into the back woods of the Berry Hill Plantation Resort where rifles and clay pigeons lay waiting. I was completely impressed by the marksmanship of the men there... let's just say that I wouldn't want to be a duck if they were hunting.

A little father and son shooting. I won't say who won, but it seems that Maurice has taught his son fairly well!

Meanwhile the ladies were getting ready for the ceremony and enjoying the afternoon.

...and before you knew it, the ceremony had begun. I don't think I'll ever get tired of photographing on the grounds of Berry Hill... it's such a gorgeous location and I felt as if I could shoot all day.

Laura's walking down the isle was preceded by a bag-piper... I had goose bumps during that moment. I actually heard quite a few people talking about how it was such an emotional moment to have the bag pipes playing.

Following the ceremony, everyone walked inside to where Cookie Band kept the party going well into the evening. This was such an enjoyable event from beginning to end and I am so thankful to have been a part of it. Congratulations to Maurice and Laura and best wishes to you both!!!!

Battle Scars...

Wednesday, September 17, 2008  |  PERSONAL

I have the best physical trainer ever. Period. You can argue all you want, but until you've dedicated a good amount of time with this guy you'll never really know. I'm not trying to be arrogant, just simply let you know that he's flippin' good (that's right, flippin' good). In the coming weeks I'll be posting more about him if you're interested in training with him... keep your eyes on the blog for more info.

For the last several weeks we've been weight training for four days and then running about 3.5 miles on Wednesdays. Don't believe me? Just hop over to the gym Wednesdays around 10ish and look for two rather large guys huffing and puffing as they suck wind... that's us. I've gotta say that all the running is finally paying off though... much to my chagrin.

Along with the running, we've begun mountain biking. Now I'm just in the learning stages, but I'm getting the hang of it and having a BLAST. It's by far one of the best and most enjoyable workouts I've had (as far as aerobic exercise goes) and I can't wait to hit up all the trails around here. So yea, along with my trainer, we hit the trails about twice a week and sometimes I hit a tree (or two)... see pic below.

Battle scars... gotta love 'em. Who else out there rides? Just curious.
