date night...

Friday, June 27, 2008  |  PERSONAL

With all the traveling that Courtney and I have been doing over the last several weeks, we've found that it's easy to place other priorities before our relationship. So, here's what we've decided to do...

- Find a unique restaurant that neither one of us has ever been to and give it a try.

- Discuss our goals, hopes, dreams, and plans for the future... never thought I'd actually do that, but it's cool once you decide as a couple where you really want to go in life.

- Hold hands and take a walk like we used to do in college.

- Go out for coffee after dinner (we're both big coffee drinkers!)

- Do a little window shopping ( I "browse" for electronics while she "browses" for items for the house)

- Take some photos of the two of us... we don't do this enough... actually Courtney always jokes about the phrase "the cobler's children have no shoes". Well, yeah, supposedly I'm the photographer who doesn't take photographs except for work. :)

So that's what we're planning on doing tonight... what about you? (It's alright if you stay in... no one will look down on that. Actually, Courtney and I tend to do that pretty frequently)

Hess Family...

Wednesday, June 25, 2008  |  PERSONAL

One of my favorite things about being a photographer is the people I meet and get to know over time. About a year or so ago I ran into Jeremy Hess, a gifted photographer out of Lancaster, PA. I had heard about Jeremy time and time again from many people, but it wasn't until my brother-in-law's wedding (where Jeremy was the photographer) that we actually had much of a conversation. Since the wedding Courtney and I traveled back to PA every few months and while there I was able to meet up with Jeremy over lunch and just hang out... turns out he's an alright guy. :)

Seriously, in the few times that I've been able to hang out with Jeremy I've been blessed to learn from him (as he has an incredible photography business of his own) as well as get to know his heart. You see, Jeremy is one of those guys that every other guy secretly wants to be... he's got so much going for him with his business, people are naturally drawn to him, and he has a sincere passion for the Lord... think of it as a trifecta.

Well with that said, Courtney and I were back in PA for the weekend and I had the opportunity to meet up with Jeremy and see his new space (check out his blog for a few detail pics... he'll post more in the weeks to come as finishing touches are completed). After seeing the new office Courtney and I were invited over for the night to hang out with Jeremy, his wife Allison, and his two boys Josiah and Hudson (who were the perfect little gentlemen... incredibly well mannered kids!). Court and I had a blast getting to know the whole Hess family and while much of the time was spent just hanging out and talking, Jeremy and I managed to grab a few shots from the evening.

Jeremy and Hudson striking a pose for the camera...

Josiah held this pose for quite a while to make sure that I could get *just*the right shot... (guess you had to be there, but it was funny).

...and Hudson was a little enamored with the camera.

Then Josiah said goodnight to Courtney and I before Jeremy took the boys upstairs to bed...

Jeremy, Allsion, thank you so much for opening up your home to Courtney and I... we're truly blessed to get to know you guys and we look forward to a continued friendship with you.

Amber + Josh :: Preview

Sunday, June 22, 2008  |  WEDDINGS

This weekend we traveled north to Pennsylvania for our good friends Amber and Josh's wedding. The wedding was held in beautiful Lancaster, PA... that's right, amish country... but the couple isn't amish (although that might make for some interesting photos). Here's one quick photo from the day... more to come. :)

Sarah + Kevin :: Engagement

Monday, June 16, 2008  |  ENGAGEMENTS

This weekend I was privileged to photograph Sarah and Kevin's engagement session. I simply cannot say enough about these two... some of the warmest and most hospitable people I've spent time with. They were a pleasure to work with and we look forward to their beautiful wedding in the coming weeks! Here are a few of my favorite images from their session.

Kevin was quite the chef with his homemade guacamole...

and Kevin even made a few incredible margaritas... perfect for a warm summer afternoon!
